Passion of Sleepy Hollow; Lexi Post Author

It’s almost Halloween! Halloween is my favorite holiday! Can’t wait for next year when I can throw a Halloween party in my new house. Just not ready for that yet. Still unpacking. I love Halloween because I love dressing as someone else. Okay, I’m also a sweet-aholic so that does add to the appeal ;-)

Some people like the scariness of the holiday. Skeletons, and witches, and vampires, oh my! Or in today’s day, Zombies, and Shifters, and Demons, oh my! Especially if you are reading Romances. My most recent release, PASSION OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, was inspired by the tale of the headless horseman “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”

Today we think of a headless man going around with an ax to cut off people’s heads. Yup, that’s scary. But for my book, I went back to the original story where the most dangerous item the horseman carried was a jack-‘o-lantern. That’s because the story wasn’t supposed to scare anyone. In fact, the “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” is a cautionary tale about listening to ghost stories and letting your imagination run away with you! I guess we’ve done that right well enough ;-)

I let my imagination runaway with me when I wrote PASSION OF SLEEPY HOLLOW. I kept the original ghost story of the headless horseman, added a more recent headless horseman ghost, then invoked a curse that would only allow Sleepy Hollow village to appear one weekend a year in our time and gave it an overly strong hero (curse) from the present who falls for the original Katrina VanTassel (1790s) and a dozen or so busybody, superstitious neighbors. Of course, it wouldn’t be a love story without some major attraction and a few hot scenes between Braeden and Kat, so I included that as well ;-)

If that sounds interesting check it out:

And in the spirit of Halloween and being someone else for a day…or a night, I’ve brought along a couple hand-decorated Venetian masks made in Italy like the ones worn in my story MASQUE. So be sure to enter the rafflecopter below for a chance to win one of these beauties.
Now to decide on my costume. Hmmm…

Always, Lexi

.

Recluse Braeden Van Brunt is not happy to be the Headless Horseman…until he meets Katrina Van Tassel, owner of the Sleepy Hollow Inn, whose allure bewitches him from the front desk into the bedroom. When he discovers Kat and the village of Sleepy Hollow are cursed to exist only in the present day for one weekend a year, he realizes the sacrifice he must make if he wants to keep her.
Katrina Van Tassel lives between slivers of time. She thought she was through grieving her betrothed’s death, but her dreams flare to life when his mirror-image arrives requesting a room.

Drawn to Braeden, she is taken to greater heights of intimacy than she ever imagined, but she can’t be sure if her heart is with him or with the love from her past.

Knowing he must conquer both time and ghosts to keep the only woman he’s ever loved, Braeden must put the past to rest. But the dead won’t rest in Sleepy Hollow.
